Ban Liquor in Lionism
It seems to be a good idea to ban Liquor in Lions, and divert the same funds to service. This could also improve our image amongst public.
Yes, I totally agree with you. Lets make a difference.

Lion Dr. E.M.B.Daniel MAF., MCFI, J.P.,
Thank you, Lion Daniel. My shrill noise about banning liquor in Lionism has found a supporter. Lions are always seen as opinion makers of the society. They should lead by example. They should never be branded as a bunch of drunkards. Once we ban liquor in Lionism, we may find more accpetance and respect in the society.

The use of liquor in my club has been curtailed significantly over the past 10 years. But its use during our social time before meetings is used as a way to raise some funds. The "Bar" is only open for about 15 minutes before a meeting, so our Lion patrons only have time for one. Our club sells this "donated liquor" at standard rates and not at a discount. The big seller today is "soda". The Coffee pot is often ready as dinner begins. Our members are never mistaken for drunkards, but as top quality community leaders and volunteers. There are those whispers of stories of many years past about odd behaviors; which hint at drunken and disorderly conduct. But those days are long past.

Thank you Lion Dan Uitti, for your valuable comment. But I still feel the same liquor what we consume as one can get three meals for a hungry stomach in a poor country. As the opinion makers of the society, should we still consume liquor? Lets introspect!

Yes I also feel that the liquor in Lion functions must be stopped. It will save a huge amount of money for the club/s which can be utilized for the service activities.Unlike many of the foreign countries Indian climate does not favour liquor consumption. Culturally not at all. So at least in Indian context Liquor consumption must b banned. JOSHI

Thank you Lion Prakash Joshi. Lets be an example to others. What money we pour in liquor can be well used for service.

Liquor should be banned. Yes. Who should bell the cat? Various reasons are given for not banning the liquor at meetings. There can be a regulation for allowing liquor at some functions of the Association. It has to be decided by the leaders and the lions as well depending the area, timing and type of meeting/programme. It is also observed that some meetings were most successful even when the liquor was not served. A though should come, initially, to the leader of the unit/area for taking such a bold decision. It can be stopped. Majority of committed lions realized this.

I fully agree with Lion Anand Kumar, The Liquor has taken some bit of respect away from Lions. I must mention the efforts of our PDG 2011, Ln KLK Chandani who had offered a cash prize of Rs. 2000 to the clubs who organized their installation over tea. At least a beginning

I see many Lions supporting my cause. I have successfully discouraged many clubs in my district to stop liquor.
